Lenten Reader | Day 26

Light in the Lord

For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light (for the fruit of the light consists in all goodness, righteousness and truth) and find out what pleases the Lord. Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them. It is shameful even to mention what the disobedient do in secret.

Ephesians 5:8-11
In this world there is so much darkness, and if you want to please the Lord, you must be the light in the Lord. We were CHOSEN by God to reflect Christ’s light to those living in darkness.

As I sit and reflect on these verses of God’s Word, I ask myself: Am I light in the Lord? Am I all I can be for Jesus? Do people know me by how I reflect His light? Do they know that I am a Christian? Am I revealing God’s truth, His goodness, and His righteousness in the way I live my life? How would I even know??

Then it hits me!!

By reading His Word and filling myself with everything the Bible teaches!

BRILLIANT!!

So I study His Word day and night, and I pray for God to use me because it fills my soul with His goodness, truth, and righteousness. And not because I do anything in myself but because I feel His light shining in and through me. I have this total peace come over me, and the blessings flow because that’s how God is!

I realize I don’t want to live any other way, and God smiles and says, “Now go out into the world, Bonnie, and show others how much better it is to be the light than by being in the darkness!!” When I do that, God puts people in my way for me to meet. I call those God appointments because I get the opportunity to be light in the Lord.

God appointment anyone??
