Lenten Reader | Day 33
Lord Save Us
The stone the builders rejected
has become the cornerstone;
the Lord has done this,
and it is marvelous in our eyes.
The Lord has done it this very day;
let us rejoice today and be glad.
Lord, save us!
Lord, grant us success!
Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.
From the house of the Lord we bless you.
The Lord is God,
and he has made his light shine on us.
With boughs in hand, join in the festal procession
up to the horns of the altar.
You are my God, and I will praise you;
you are my God, and I will exalt you.
Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good;
his love endures forever.
- Psalm 118:22-29

- Psalm 118:22-29
There are some absolutes in this world – God is one of them. A few weeks ago, Pastor Jon was telling us about the name God gave himself while speaking with Moses. I AM. Yahweh. He has always been, and He will always be. He is an absolute. There is nothing that can change the fact that God is God and that He is good. Things may happen in our lives that cause us to question Him and sometimes question His goodness, but that does not change the fact that He is or that He is good.
Another absolute is revealed to us very early in Genesis – He created us in His image. There isn't anything you can do to change that fact. You are created in His image. Your value is immeasurable. Not because of anything you have done but simply because He made you in His image.
Psalm 118:25 begins with "Lord, save us!" and later in the books of Matthew, Mark, and John, the crowds call out "Hosanna (save us) to the Son of David!" Jesus is preparing to do just that – save all of us. He knows what is coming to him, a death on the cross. It will be the sacrifice we need to experience Yahweh personally.
He heard the cries before they were even uttered and answered them because we are immeasurably valuable. We are created in His image. Wherever we are in our walk with Jesus – closer than we have ever been or further than we should ever be – there is an absolute that we cannot escape any more than God can stop being, we were created in His image, and we are worth saving!
Today, call out HOSANNA to Him. Acknowledge that you are worth saving, not because of anything you have done, but because He is in you. You are worth saving!
